At what age did you reach your first million? How did you scale up from there?

Have heard of some crazy earnings story on the HF side (both quant and L/S, on the quant side have heard of someone pulling $15MM+ before 28 y/o). Have also heard of some very successful people roughly my age leaving IB after a year to go on and start a business (Know a 22 y/o who's made ~$3MM in 18 months, one other employee, no clue what he took home but is worth a lot for his age).

All of these stories make me wonder...how did you achieve your first million? How did you scale from 1 to 5 to 10? I know there is no designed path, and a few years of good bonuses can get you there if you are lucky, but I am curious to hear the outliers of success, or success at a certain age.
