Australia to New York for IB

Hi everyone, first time posting on WSO

i am an Australian high school student with a predicted atar of 98

my plan is to study a double degree of engineering and finance at USYD before breaking into an Australian BB. To work there for a few years to then request a trade to a NYC office. My question is, is this a realistic plan, given I am very motivated. And what are some things I could do to increase my chances

Thankyou for any responses

Still got a bit of time to decide what you want to do, bud. Would also note that it’s worth trying to bump up the ATAR as much as possible, 99+ looks good on a resume when applying to small boutiques/MMs/EBs in your second year (not awfully relevant thereafter).

Regardless, it’s certainly possible to transfer to the NY office but not if you’re going to work at an “Australian BB”. Are you referring to top shops based in Australia (e.g. Jarden, Maccap, Barrenjoey) or the Australian offices of American BBs? If the former, limited intl opps. If the latter, more likely.
