I was interviewing for this lateral position. I applied normally first but I asked someone I know in the team to put my resume in front of the hiring manager. HR never contacted me. Then I got an interview invitation from the team assistant and the team MD liked me and I had final round interviews with group MD as well. I thought the interview went fine. Maybe I wouldn’t get the job because someone else is better but I didn’t think that I would be dinged. The process lasted for around 3 weeks.
Then one day after my interview, midnight, I received an automated rejection email. This to me seems to be a bit too quick unless they don’t even want to put me on the wait list. I noticed that the job application has just been closed right before the email I received. Is it possible that I’m still in the process but because I didn’t get the interview through normal channel, they just didn’t update the portal and automatically sent a rejection email to me?
