Awkward...

Hey all,

I was being invited to a superday with a firm that I really wanted - the caller is a big decision maker in the process. When he asked if the timing worked for me, I said something along the lines of "yes, I have 2 other superdays this week but should have time to accept them after your guys' interview."

What I had meant to convey was that the other 2 are backups and I was waiting for this firm. Would my response be misconstrued? Should I send him an email this week to thank him again and reiterate that they are my top choice?

Pick your own response adventure...... flip a coin or something.....

Response 1 ––––––––––––––––– Yeah man, you really fucked up, shouldn't have mentioned that you have other superdays and that you don't have what it takes to accommodate everything. Now they think you don't even care about them and you have a snowball's chance in hell. Nonetheless, you should send him an email suggesting (though not obtusely) that the firm would be your #1 choice and go in to the superday and give it 110%.

Response 2 ––––––––––––––– No, it doesn't really matter. Might even be good for them to know that other firms are interested in you too. It won't hurt you. Just send him an email suggesting (though not obtusely) that the firm would be your #1 choice and go in to the superday and give it 110%.

Its kinda like when you email a girl and think you fucked up and then triple text her which makes you actually fuck up. Most of the times you are just over thinking it. Don't over analyze these things. Chances are that he read it really fast on his iphone and didnt give it a second thought. He has more important things to think about.

That being said, you have a super day setup so I wouldn't email him again. Just go in and kill it.

Well, it was a call so he definitely heard it and I think he was a bit taken back. However, like you two have said, it's going to come down to the in-person meeting. I'm sure after that, all the phone conversations go out the window.
