Background Check: Investment Banking vs. Private Placement Agent
Hi,
I interned at a private placement agent/capital raising firm the past summer. While going throughout my interview process, I labelled the experience as Investment Banking intern, since technically the work we did in capital raising is commonly done in banks, as well as capital raising being a major part of what an investment bank does for clients. All of the experiences I wrote about are true. Given that this is sort of a gray area and since I didn't really have an official title other than intern, do you think this could pose a problem for a background check now that I've accepted an offer elsewhere? My understanding is that there are firms dedicated to capital raising that definitely classify themselves as boutique banks. Should I be concerned?
