Background Check Question

Reneged from the shop where I interned last summer and the new shop I am joining is asking for the name and phone number of my manager from last summer. Obviously not on great terms with the firm given my reneging so am curious what I should do in this situation. The name and phone number are required fields on a form that I have to submit so I need to submit something.

I am thinking about reaching out to junior people who quit after I worked with them. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you mean. I guess I could but I doubt they would care about contacting former managers after I’ve already started working. I want to make sure they don’t contact my manager before I start.
