Bad experience with analyst
Genuinely interested to know whether this is a typical experience, or if this analyst was especially bad.
Interned at a London BB this summer, in a small/niche group. I was the only intern and there was only one analyst. Total team approx 15 people. While he wasn't involved in all the deals/projects/pitches I was, as the only analyst I did work with him closely a lot. He came through the summer analyst programme a couple of years ago. This guy would basically pretend I didn't exist, completely ignore me, never speak to me, unless it was to have a go at me about my work. For context it was quite a chilled team, and the associates, VPs, and directors would always chat to me like normal people.
He would always tell me I'm doing things wrong, but never tell me what to do instead. Never show me the best way to do things. Never give any constructive feedback. Just tell me I was wrong and stupid.
As the internship went on, and the decision about my return offer was approaching crunch time, he would always remind me that I have worked closely with him and as such, his feedback holds significant weight. Whenever he would tell me I had done something wrong, he'd remind me that he had to submit his feedback for my conversion outcome in the next few days, and that I wasn't making myself look good. I don't really understand why he was like this. FWIW he isn't even good at his job. I ended up receiving the offer but this analyst alone is making me consider recruiting elsewhere.
What should I do? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
dox him here bro let me teach him a lesso
Guy sounds like a dick - micromanaging Analysts / Associates are the worst
