Bank Drug Test
I'll be an incoming FT analyst for an NYC MM bank (HW/Jefferies/HL) and didn't intern there over the summer. Don't really know anyone at the bank I'm going to so was wondering if the above banks drug test new hires? I definitely don't wanna take the risk if my bank does test, but it'd be nice to know if I can smoke a bit before I start my analyst stint.
Currently at a MM bank like yourself. Due to Covid we skipped the drug test part. Now will they do the same for you? Maybe, but I didn’t have to do it. I would assume they would skip that for you too
Makes sense thanks. Although it's not clear whether I'll be remote or in-person yet. Anyone know whether the new NYC law that prohibits companies from testing for THC applies to banks? It exempts any firms that contract with the government I think but can't find a definitive answer if that applies to banks
Don't know why it's so hard not to just not smoke until you know when/if you'll be tested. If you don't know for sure that they're not testing, you should assume that they are - the risk/reward is incredibly lopsided.
Find a friend who isn’t recruiting for finance to reach out to people at the bank and ask if they drug test. I have a couple pre-med friends and have done that for some hospitals since I could care less if a hospital is weirded out by me. But also worth taking a 30 day break leading up to the start and not smoking until your first check clears
