Why do you say this exactly? Is your job truly garbage or do you just miss the days of going out with friends and being a mindless heap of hedonism?

Tell you what, I'm trying to get into IB knowing full well I will never regret it because I have no social life and nothing there to cry about when I'm too stressed out.

Echo what Analyst 1 IB Coverage said.

I was talking with girlfriend about what I should do, like really do, as a career --- let's put entrepreneurship aside and only consider white-collar jobs.

I've always loved the game of Hedge Fund. A professor of mine, who used to be a C-suite at a BB (for an area like EMEA, NA, APAC. Idk what's a better term to say this), He observed that I should work at a small-sized (small in terms of people), quirky hedge fund that cares absolutely nothing about bureaucratic processes and other, quirks.

After 4+ years, I've finally come to the conclusion that yes, he is right.

Postmortem: why did I choose investment banking?

Confessing to my girlfriend, a Big Law lawyer who loves sharing meme pictures, I said "because I was blinded by prestige. Only now do I realize how bullshit that was".
