Ah, you're looking for the latest scoop on Barclays' groups post-2023 departures, huh? Well, based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what I can share:

  • Investment Banking Performance: As of September 2023, Barclays wasn't listed in the top firms for overall employee satisfaction or professional growth opportunities in the investment banking sector. Firms like William Blair, Lincoln International, and Jefferies & Company were leading in these areas.

  • Compensation: In terms of total average compensation for investment banking roles, the data from September 2023 doesn't specifically mention Barclays. However, it does provide insights into the industry standards, with Directors/MDs earning around $592k, Vice Presidents around $392k, and Associates around $159k.

  • Career Advancement: Barclays isn't explicitly mentioned in the context of career advancement opportunities either. Firms like Jefferies & Company and Lincoln International were noted for their high ratings in this regard.

  • Networking and Learning: Barclays does offer resources for networking and learning, such as free financial modeling lessons and access to financial modeling templates, which could be beneficial for career growth within the firm.

For the most current word on Barclays' groups, especially after 2023 departures, I'd recommend checking out the latest threads on the WSO forums or the WSO Company Database. These resources are frequently updated with new information and can provide you with the insights you're looking for. Remember, networking with current employees or alumni can also give you a fresh perspective on the internal dynamics post-departures.

According to friends at both UBS and Barclays: CR and Tech are the only groups that UBS had the main rainmakers come in with some HC as well(but HC remains a top group at Barclays). So, the rest should be fairly the same. Not saying other groups had no MD's leave, but the main rainmakers and notable names were tech and CR guys.

Barclays does have an M&A group assisting with some coverage groups but not all (ik heavy in CNR). Best groups continue to be - PUI, Energy transition group (NatRes and SIIB just combined) and Healthcare. Sponsors had a lot of MD leaves along with CNR. Stay away from REGL. Tech is a sweatshop pitching constantly but still no dice. FIG has done very well recently. Industrials also sweaty but you’ll get reps in.
