BARCLAYS: Hiring freeze IB Divison rumors

Hey fellow monkey,

Barclays was (and still is) rumored to have a 'freeze' on hiring, although this was heavily denied by the bank. Does anyone know what to expect for the upcoming opportunities for 2021, even for SA 2020? (internships, grad program, full time) What about layoffs, another rumor? Have they been moving positions to Whippany? It is true? Highly interested. Any input is greatly appreciated it!

Hi incoming here, having spoken to an analyst who I'm close with last week, there weren't any rumors of layoffs within the office and people seem to be for the most part not to be too worried within the firm. As of yet, no bankers really know what's going on, but as JP Morgan and BAML have guaranteed pay from June with delays either scheduled or possible, it is likely Barclays will follow suit. Finally, talking to people who are currently going through diversity hiring, there is definitely NOT a hiring freeze for 2021 and barring any really improbable (although sadly not impossible) possibilities it is likely that there will be some option for interns to see out 2020. Hope this helps!

all BBs have some sort of semi freeze right now, but as far as anyone knows the incoming people are safe at all BBs...you are most likely safe due to JPM/BOFA announcements, and 2021 hiring is still going on at all BBs
