Based on last year's precedents—is it too late to apply to London IB internships?

Any anecdotal evidence from LAST—recruitment season (seasons before the last one are not really comparable to this season & the last, precisely because of unprecedentedly high numbers of applicants)—about any applicants who got an MM IB (or MF/MM PE) offer despite applying as late as the first 10 days of OCTOBER? Now is the time I'm about to commence applying to most London MM internships for next year (burnt most of my time in September on BB/EB)—am I cooked? Is it hopeless already, to apply now & next week?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it is not entirely hopeless to apply to London IB internships in early October, but the window is narrowing quickly. Many banks in London operate on a rolling recruitment basis, meaning they review applications as they come in and may fill positions before the official deadlines. This makes applying as early as possible critical.

From previous WSO threads, there are anecdotal cases of candidates securing offers even after applying in October, particularly for MM IB roles. However, these cases often involve strong applications, excellent preparation, and sometimes a bit of luck. Additionally, some firms continue interviewing into November or even later, so there is still a chance if you act quickly.

Key advice: 1. Apply immediately: Do not delay further. Submit your applications to MM banks as soon as possible. 2. Focus on quality: Ensure your CV and cover letter are optimized and tailored to each bank. 3. Leverage networking: While networking is less emphasized in the UK compared to the US, it can still help you gain insights or stand out. 4. Prepare for interviews: Be ready to ace online tests and interviews, as the process can move quickly.

While the competition is fierce and the timeline is tight, it is not entirely hopeless. Act decisively and give it your best shot!
