BB Coverage Experience

Curious to see how my experience stacks up against others on here.

I lateralled to a BB coverage team (top 10 - i.e. not GS, MS) about 18 months ago, having previously worked in Big 4 (corporate finance). I think it's fair to say my deal experience so far has felt underwhelming (even within the context of the recent pandemic): zero completed M&A transactions, a couple of DCMs. Our team is not ranked poorly (consistently top 10 in fees) but I do worry about how to frame this period when/if it comes time to move on.

How does this compare to others here? Particularly keen to hear from other coverage bankers.

Usually, in coverage, after two years, an analyst will have worked on 1-2 M&A transactions and 2-3 financings. There is no "typical" experience, because it depends on the market environment, the industry you are in, the complexity of the things that you are working on, and luck of the draw in terms of staffing. So I'd say that you are a bit light on the M&A side. Assuming that you already secured your next job, if you fast forward a few years, it won't matter that your analyst experience was a little light because people will focus more on your then-current job vs your first job.
