5-Step (Borderline Psycho) Pre-Superday Routine I Used to Land Every IB Internship Offer

Not your typical “Bring your own water bottle” / “Always use the restroom before” interview advice.

Bit on me - Just started as private equity analyst on 2mo ago. Interned at elite boutique in NYC last summer, had three Superdays and three offers.

The pressure of a Superday can be overwhelming. Over a year of hard work and dedication all leading up to this one, 4-5hr interview...

Here is the borderline psychotic routine that helped me convert every Superday:

1. Pushups, Squats & Jumping Jacks.

  • Before every interview, I would drop down to the floor, do 25 pushups, stand up and do 25 squats and then finish with 2min of jumping jacks.
  • This gets my blood flowing and gave me a boost of energy, positivity and mental clarity that helped me enter the interview firing on all cylinders.

2. Big Bootie Mix #18 Full Volume.

  • Bring your airpods and bump this (Soundcloud / Spotify / YouTube) at full volume for at least 10min. Can be combined with exercise. Impossible to not be pumped after this.

3. Screaming.

  • Before you enter the lobby of the building, letting out a couple “LET’S GOOOO” screams at the top of your lungs for about 10-20 seconds helps get you fired up.

4. Connor McGregor Mindset.

  • One of my favorite athletes is Connor McGregor. The confidence he emits is inspiring. I would always do the McGregor walk (below) on my stroll to the Superday location to make sure my confidence was at its max (which is what interviewers want to see).

5. Bring a Flosser & Icebreakers.

  • Sometimes you will have a meal as a part of the interview.
  • Don’t be the guy with spinach stuck in your teeth post-meal as you talk to bankers for the next five hours. They will probably hate you.
