Differences in Restructuring Teams?

Could anybody share some insight into the dtd of restructuring analysts at firms like A&M/FTI/Alix vs analysts at PJT/Houlihan/Evercore? If anybody has experience at a banks internal workout group would love to hear about that as well.

My understanding is Rx at A&M is more focused on operational turnarounds while a PJT is more focused on capital structure. Is this accurate?

Mostly trying to assess the skill set you would build at each?

Good job not doing any research! Chat GPT definitely cannot answer this question for you!

Let me try and explain this in words your brain can understand:

RX Investment Banking Analyst (PJT / EVR/ HL)

Bro is a certified debtmaxxing spreadsheet demon 💀😭 Company is 17x levered, EBITDA in the backrooms, unsecureds getting fanum taxed. Bro hits a giga dropdown, primes the opps, and mogs the entire cap stack. 90-hour weeks, negative sleep, infinite aura. Thinks he's the next Apollo PM. Absolute fulcrum sigma. 🗿

RX Consulting Analyst (Alix / A&M / FTI)

Bro is the 13-week cash flow yapper 😭🙏 Pulls up to a bankrupt company and starts inventorymaxxing. CFO says they're out of cash, bro says "chat, is this real?" Fires 300 NPCs, cancels the office snacks, and calls it a liquidity glow-up. Gets mogged by the AP aging report. Bro is NOT the fulcrum. 💀

IB: Skibidi liabilitymaxxing, creditor aura farming.

Consulting: Ohio cost-cutting, working capital gooning.

Both: Cooked beyond human comprehension. 💀
