Being asked technicals on networking calls SA 2026

I have heard of people being screened in networking calls (Non-RX, especially BofA). I just wanted to check if there was any truth to this/hear about others' experiences

If so, can you let me know what kind of questions you guys have been asked?

personally all of my networking calls have been super helpful and chill and I usually go for alumni, especially as a sophomore I never had anyone grill me but everyone’s experience is different

maybe it’s about intention

Yes, there is a good amount of truth to it and it's 100% fair game to get light technicals during the call. Jefferies and Moelis come to mind as places where you might experience it.

Nah I haven’t been asked any yet, have heard of it though. Worst I’ve experienced is someone nit picking stuff on my resume and asking pretty deep market questions which caught me off guard. I think it really depends the way you approached them to begin with, probably more likely to be asked technicals if you cold emailed or linkedin messaged them than if you were recommended through someone else.
