People who went to a similar type of college, more senior people from the same college, or who I met through an information session
Guess u just gotta spam networking calls. From a non-target so all I had were random ppl to network with and eventually got good at it. Ask more about their careers than talking about school life.

Far too direct. I once did something similar and it instantly burned that connection. You have to remember these people don't know you personally nor can they vouch for your abilities. So they aren't going to be comfortable just giving you a job. Need to build a relationship before an ask as large as that

What are you expecting them to answer? Recruiting isn't rocket science, and most of your profile is not mutable in the time frame between such a networking conversation and the roundtable where they pick candidates.
Assuming you have the relevant experiences and a competitive academic profile, you get in the door by showing that you're genuinely interested in and well-informed of the work that the group does and that you pass the airport test. You show that to as many people as you can get your hands on in the group.
To me, this question would imply that you don't know how the hiring process works, and don't have great EQ (can see how others might respect the directness, but I am less sympathetic).

I just haven’t heard back about from anywhere yet. I have a near perfect GPA and reasonable experience, I just feel like I must be doing something wrong
