In DC:

  • KippsDesanto (now subsidiary of Capital One) is one of the premier, independent IBs for MM M&A and they've been crushing it in recent years
  • Baird has a very strong Gov Services team in Tysons Corner that does mostly M&A with some financings strewn in. Probably the strongest ADG group in the area, maybe the country if you consider that most of the BBs just lump ADG deals into their general Industrials group.
  • Raymond James ADG is in the area but don't know much about them. I'd imagine their work is on par with RJ's deals in other verticals.
  • Stephens has a small office in DC that's a step below the aforementioned.
  • Stifel's ADG group still sits in Bethesda, MD but the long-time head of the group moved on to a boutique a few years ago so I'm not too sure if they've maintained their status.
  • McLean Group is a strong boutique in the region that does a lot of $25-$75mm sell-sides within the ADG space

For the large prime contractors, they typically just use the usual suspects when it comes to transactions and they're typically handled by the general Industrials groups within the BBs and UMMs.
