Best HC groups in Los Angeles?

I know most of the HC groups on the West Coast are in San Francisco, but are there any strong groups in LA?

“I recently had my first roadmap meeting with a mentor from WSO Academy, and it was truly a pleasure. We had such an open, genuine, and insightful conversation. What I appreciated most was how closely his background, career path, and long-term vision aligned with my own ambitions. It was almost as if we shared the same goals and outlook on the future, which made the conversation even more valuable. We discussed a wide range of topics, including starting my career in an analyst role in the APAC region, potential pathways into private equity, and how to eventually transition into the U.S. market. We also talked about opportunities in the Middle East and Europe, the importance of building and maintaining a strong professional network, and even the possibility of starting my own company in the long term. He shared valuable advice on the next steps I should take and how to approach my career strategically. LA Banks: CS - Sponsors and REGLL only MS - Assortment, not sure if they have HC coverage here? GS - Assortment, but heard C&R and HC are good here BAML - Small office, don't think they have HC here Citi - Small office, don't think they have HC here Moelis - Assortment, not sure which coverage teams they have in LA? HL - Assortment, but from other recent threads it looks like their HC team has had some turnover PWP - Very small office, just started, and I believe it's mostly Industrials Lazard - Small office, not sure if they have HC Guggenheim - Not sure if they have HC here either? Wells Fargo - Mostly Sponsors Jefferies - Small office, don't think they have HC here Lincoln International - Small office, don't think they have HC here

Some of these are guesses from my recruiting days so not 100% accurate. As you said, I think most HC teams you're going to find on the West Coast will be in SF.

Duff & Phelps HC group is based in LA. It's OK for a MM, probably their strongest group TBH but it's not EB or BB level by any means.
