Best Laptops for IB

Would love to hear some recommendations for laptops in IB. I'm not very knowledgable of computers so I'm not sure what to go for. My firm doesn’t give laptops and uses virtual desktop. I'd ideally like to get something under $1,800 but I'll shell out if I need to. Just looking for something that can run the virtual desktop without lag. I've seen all the older threads but want to get some recent options.

I suspect that's because you had to take your laptop into work and plug it in. At my workplace they have desktops at the office and you log on via virtual desktop. Doesn't require a huge budget imo. If my shitty old MacBook Air (that I sold, worst purchase I ever made back in university) and some 2016 laptop could run the virtual desktop, then I don't think you need to shell out more than like 500-600 on a laptop.

Although, personally, I would opt for a desktop. I have an all-in-one 27' HP with a second monitor attached. Works like a charm when working from home.

Actually a good point. Like how much of local data power is used while logged onto these virtual desktops? Can anyone with experience enlighten us whether it is worth investing an additional $500 in a better computer?

All the heavy processing happens serverside, the only thing that matters is a stable internet connection and good battery life.
