Post a thread on WSO on the day of the interview about key highlights.

You’ll have the news that bankers are talking about which is better than reading the entire WSO only to talk about something completely different.

PS - this advise is for IB interviews (not research analyst positions where you’ll probably need more detailed news than WSO).

I think I've read an excerpt from Financial Times, they seem incredibly informative and actually get into the numbers. Would anyone say that gives a slight advantage over surface level knowledge on the topic?

I'm subscribed to the FT for three years. But I don't think it is as easy as just reading one newspaper. When I'm preparing for interviews I look through many sites: FT for general finance news, the Money Stuff newsletter by Matt Levine for more in-depth discussions on general finance news, International Monetary Fund and Federal Reserve for state of the global and national economy, the research publications of the company I'm interviewing view to understand their view, etc.

To keep up to date with business and finance news on a daily basis I would recommend the Water Coolest newsletter and the FT News Briefing podcast (freely available on Spotify and other podcast apps). The Money Stuff newsletter is great too but it's not a quick read. If I'm interested in one of the topics it can take me more than an hour to read it and look at the referenced links and papers. That's a little much for a daily newsletter.

If you want to subscribe to the FT, see whether you can get the reduced student rate or whether your company already has a subscription.
