Best NY Boutique IB firms for Sophomores?

Non-diversity, rising sophomore. Currently go to school in NY and wanted to gain some more exposure on IB after a freshman summer at a PE firm, and wondering if anyone can recommend NY boutique IB firms that accept sophomore interns either off-cycle or summer interns?

My advice for sophomores would be to apply to everywhere, so any and every boutique and MM firm in your area. Apply early and start learning about the basics of investment banking (what bankers do, general idea of valuation methods, excel, etc.). It's better to come in with a decent fundamental understanding of banking and its functions rather than coming in clueless because there will be juniors and even seniors fighting for spots at regional boutiques. Start by sending cold emails to MDs at boutique firms inquiring about summer opportunities if they do not have general applications.

If they do not have a resume drop, there is often an email listed to send your resume to. If the firm does not have any of that then look for a managing director's email. The best response rate were firms where the managing director was an alumni, so something I did was look up my university's name with managing director and investment banking in the same search. Even if you go to a small non-target you can probably find some alumni at boutiques in your school's area or major financial districts. Again - make sure to apply early (before the spring) and everywhere.
