Best path from MM Summer to EB/BB (London)

Hello everyone,

I'm a Final year Masters student at a target and have secured a Summer Internship in a good MM (Jefferies, HSBC, RBC) in London with high conversion rate. Following this I'm wondering what is the best way to join a BB/EB in the short term. I was thinking to do 1 (or 2) off-cycles starting September 2024 then join back the MM if I'm not successful converting them.

I currently have 2 opportunities:

- An off cycle in a good PE (Antin, IK, Permira): it could allow me to network with the Associates/VP then ask them to send my CV to some BB/EBs

- An off cycle at a lower BB (UBS, DB, Barclays): probably a good conversion rate but it would be a pain knowing that I've already done 2 off cycles before my Masters

Otherwise I could just ask for an early-start in october/november 2024 then try to quickly lateral to a better bank.

What should I do?

You already have PE and IB off-cycle offers?

Also bro, you created a previous post that literally asks about Torch vs HSBC, no need to be evasive with "good MM".

Then it depends on your goal. Having PE on CV can help later for interviews but only worth it if you have the FT from summer.

Given that HSBC has a low conversion rate, go to the BB. In this environment, a FT offer is worth everything.

Why would you mention Pemira with the other two funds? Thats nowhere close to being the same bucket.

Is my reading comprehension awful or he doesn't actually have the off-cycle offers but instead is just in the process?
See most comments are assuming he holds the offers, in which case the obvious answer is to do the off-cycle at the BB (best way to be at a BB is to work there lol). But, if I'm reading correctly and you don't have the offers, then I would go to HSBC and after ~1 year it shouldn't be that hard to lateral (I would personally avoid Torch Partners, from their website it doesn't look like they are doing a lot of deals)

Yeah I was so confused as well. He replied saying he had these two offers but probably refers to HSBC and Torch, instead of my original question regarding off-cycle offers in PE and IB. Otherwise, he is an idiot.

Often surprised at who makes it into IB.
