BEST TEAMS/GROUPS MORGAN STANLEY LONDON IBD

Dear WSO Community,

I am writing to introduce myself as a new member and to seek advice on my upcoming summer internship at Morgan Stanley London. I am very excited about this opportunity and would like to gain a better understanding of the different teams at the firm.

I would appreciate any insights on the culture, working hours and career progression within the different teams, with a focus on potential exits to private equity  PE  in the future.

I am unsure of what is the best approach, to go to a specific industry or product. This are some industries/ products that caught my attention:

Financial Sponsors Group (FSG):  this team covers a range of industries and products in the deals that involve one ore more PE's, with a focus on leveraged buyouts (mainly) and mergers and acquisitions. Being in touch from the beginning with PE firms, helps for future opportunities?

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) execution group. Are the hours very long? Are you aware if there is a lot of "documentary work" involved?.

Additionally, I am considering industries such as Technology (Tech), Consumer Retail, and Transportation & Infrastructure.

I would be grateful for any recommendations or advice you may have (even in some groups or industries I have not mentioned)

Thanks!!

If you want to exit to PE, M&A is probably the safest option.

Just please try to talk as a normal person during your internship, it will help you a lot to convert.
