Moelis vs Morgan Stanley LONDON

Hey everyone. I got 2 IB summer internship offers ( Moelis & Morgan Stanley) for London and I would love to know what you think.

Moelis: better salaries, (people seemed nicer in interviews), generalist ( which is cool ), more responsabilities however they mainly have RX and I am more keen on M&A.

Morgan Stanley: The name of the brand and reputation is much bigger ( At least in Europe, I think ), bigger deals on M&A.

On the other hand I am someone who wants to jump soon to PE and I want to know which one will give me more facilities.

And does anyone know which one has better work-life balance? which hours are harder?

So my question is, in general, taking into account all of this, what would you do? (LONDON)

If you want to jump to PE clearly go to MS, it has a stronger brand. WLB at MS is group dependent but overall MS is very active so I am not sure you will find "chill" groups. Moelis only if you prefer the boutique experience and/or you have an interest in RX

I'm in PE now and have several colleagues who were at MS London before. Obviously, exits are very strong from MS. However, everyone I know that has been at MS absolutely HATED it. They say that the culture was absolutely horrible and that the hours were insane. I have colleagues from 4 different groups at MS and they all tell the same story, so it might be difficult to find good groups. I also have colleagues from other top banks and groups in London who obviously worked a lot but still had a great experience. With that said, it all comes down to what you prioritize. If getting the best exit opportunities is the most important and you can survive 2 years at a place with horrible culture and hours, then go for MS. Moelis is still a solid shop and you will definitely get PE interviews from Moelis as well. I can also tell you from experience that it's very easy to think "sure, I can live through hell for 2 years", but actually doing it is much more difficult.
