PE, PWM and AM are not IB, champ. perhaps you should look for an IB internship if you want to go into IB.

Thank you for your interest in the 2020 Investment Banking Full-time Analyst Programme (London) at JPMorgan Chase. After a thorough review of your application, we regret to inform you that we are unable to move forward with your candidacy at this time.

If you want IB, and IB internship is best obviously. Getting a PE internship, as it's generally an "exit opportunity" could send mixed signals to what you're really interested in. PWM is basically BO and could be fine for a freshman internship but won't translate well to IB. And anything HF/AM/ER/Valuation focused can develop solid, transferable skills but of course then you'd need to explain why you want to get into IB.

If you can't get IB, I'd rank them as follows: 1. PE 2. ER/Valuation 3. HF 4. Accounting/Corp Fin 5. PWM

Agreed, this is just on a comparable basis. But yes, Corp Fin at a F100 could be a great internship and may even be the best on the list if it's against a microfund PE. But of course, it all depends what you want and if IB if your goal, then IB will almost always be the best shot.
