Rowing, track (esp distance), and squash stand out to me (it's crazy how many squash people get good jobs from network); athletes in these kinds of niche sports seem to perform similarly to NARPs academically as well.

Don't think of it by sport or school. Look at the bench. Within a recruiting class, Ivy and similar school coaches have to balance skill and academics; you might have a 1050 SAT 5-star quarterback and a 1530 bench player, then a 1580 walk-on kicker. Anecdotally many terrible D1 athletes accidentally have the smarts to get in and succeed academically,  but also the teamwork/discipline/etc benefits from being an athlete.

what about sports like tennis or golf? feel like there could be a lot of accountability or discipline skills there too. also huge networking sports from what i understand

Idk why but there are hella swimmers from what I’ve seen through my recruiting. Maybe because roster sizes are big.

had a buddy on the uchicago tennis team who graduated a couple years ago. 15-20 person team that has the best placements I’ve ever seen (even for finance clubs). I know that 3 kids on the team right now have offers at Goldman but they’ve placed at Moelis, BX MS. Insane

Stupid monkey 69 is correct. If you want a real team go look at CMS Tennis. I don’t go there but have a friend on the UChicago tennis team who is super insecure about losing to them this year.

The best varsity sports for finance professionals emphasize teamwork, strategy, and discipline. Top choices include golf (networking), tennis (individual performance), rowing (team coordination), soccer (global perspective), basketball (fast decision-making), and baseball (data analytics). These sports build skills valuable in finance careers.
