Big 4 Deal Advisory or Alvarez and Marsal Restructuring

Hi everyone,

I have secured an offer to work at a Big 4 Deal advisory and am in the final stages of interviewing with A&M. I was wondering which position would give better exit opps and help set me up for a long term career in finance. Both jobs are NYC and post MBA rolls.

Thanks

Who are you and what fits you better? If you're a natural hustler and looking for a set of skills and launch pad to get to PE type work, then AM. If you want stability, prestige, esoteric, yet very niche specialization then B4 is probably your gig.

Global buyer of highly distressed industrial companies. Pays Finder Fees Criteria = $50 - $500M revenues. Highly distressed industrial. Limited Reps and Warranties. Can close in 1-2 weeks.

Just to give you some general data points: A&M pay > Big 4 pay. A&M pays a lower base but it makes up for it with its bonuses. People at A&M earn anywhere from 1.5-4x their base depending on utilization.

For me, it would come down to what group you're a part of in Deals Advisory, are you doing FDD or strategy?

If its strategy vs A&M then you have a good debate and it would come down to the work you prefer (Rx vs M&A). If its any other deal advisory group then its a no brainer A&M.
