Binance internship for IB

Hey all.

I have an offer to intern with Binance in one of their finance related teams.

My goal is IB so I was wondering, given the crypto negativity and FTX - would this be a big blemish on my resume? This is when it comes to getting interviews for IBD roles.

I don't have any other internship offers right now but feel like maybe no binance on my resume is better. I have completed an IB internship at BNP Paribas in Project Finance so its not like my profile has nothing. I would go for another IB internship or graduate role but headcount seems down and I am not getting any interviews.

However, this is exactly why I am worried people might get confused that I chose to do a finance/investment internship at Binance instead of another IB internship.

Any 2 cents/advice is appreciated, especially from the people who review CVs for SA/FT recruitment. Thanks!

Europe. Graduated this year. I did the SA at previous bank, no conversion. Going to do Masters next year so I need something inbetween.

I just realised it might look awkward if I suddenly went for a weird Finance/Strategy type internship instead anything in traditonal IB e.g. M&A at boutique or whatever.

Most people I talked to previously at banks don't really like Crytpo which is why I am scared to accept. Easier to explain no internship rather than IB PF -> Binance -> IB again. But I am thinking maybe I will just do the internship but omit it from my 1 page resume so it's not a red flag.

Binance is a great name that everyone in banking will know about and it would definitely be a strong value-add to your resume, especially since the position is finance-related.

Also since your previous IB experience is in project finance, i.e. more infra/real assets related, having experience at a crypto exchange would be very helpful if you want to recruit for TMT / FIG groups.

Oh that's cool. By Crypto nerd - was it in a positive or negative light? By positive I mean more like "oh that's an interest work experience, let's ask him about it".

Although I do wonder, do you think I could just exclude it from my resume when applying for IB roles? So it's only bought up in conversation?
