Bear does not give analysts a blackberry
When I went for my interviews at Bear, all the 2nd years seemed to have one. Is it just the 1st years that don't get one?
A FT analyst with no BB? That's absurd
It's possible they don't provide you one, but you are required to have one. To put it another way, you pay for your own.
I find that highly unlikely. For cell phones that is true, but no one is going to require you to have a blackberry and be emailing you on your gmail/personal email..
I think that Piper Jaffray first-year analysts are not given blackberries but I am not 100% sure.

Bear gives their FT Analysts pagers actually... I guess alot of the guys end up buying Blackberries on their own. I'm told Associates get a "technology stipend" which they use to buy a blackberry.

bear associates get blackberries on top of the stipend i believe and most analysts there that i know pay for them out of pocket since it makes life easier to have one
