BNP Paribas and Rwandan Genocide

BNP Paribas has been accused of complicity in the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Three different civil society organizations filed complaints in the French courts.

The was allegedly used to transfer $1.3 million from the Rwandan national bank to a Swiss account belonging to a South African Arms dealer.

Back in 2014, BNP was fined $8.9 billion after pleading guilty to processing transactions for groups in Sudan, Iran and Cuba between 2002 and 2012.

What are you thoughts/comments, higher primates? How will the French courts prove BNP’s alleged complicity?

Feel free to state any other illicit activities by banks in the past – I like reading up about things like this.

Whenever a new administration enters office or budgets are tight ole' uncle sam seems to beat up the wallets of private businesses when they have done far worse. These fines are really a pass through tax on the consumers that use that service.
