BofA TMT (London)
Thoughts on Bank of America’s TMT team in London and overall prestige in Europe? Probably not their best team but is it worth doing a 2027 off-cycle there to at least gain some brand name on CV? Thoughts on potential PE exits 2-3 years down the line?
Bank of America's TMT team in London has historically been more focused on Media & Telco rather than a broader TMT scope. While it may not be considered one of the top-tier TMT teams in Europe, it has been improving in recent years. The team is relatively small, which can mean more exposure to deals but also a heavier workload. The work culture is described as intense and formatting-heavy, though the team is reportedly more enjoyable outside of work.
In terms of prestige, Bank of America as a brand carries significant weight in Europe, and having it on your CV can be a strong asset. Even if the TMT team isn't the firm's flagship group, the experience and brand recognition can still open doors for Private Equity exits, especially if you leverage the experience effectively and network strategically.
For PE exits 2-3 years down the line, while the team may not have the same level of deal flow or reputation as some other top TMT teams in London, the Bank of America name combined with solid deal experience can position you well for mid-market PE opportunities. However, for larger-cap PE firms, you might need to supplement your experience with strong networking and possibly lateral moves to more prestigious teams or firms.

would u say BofA is more prestigious / has better overall PE exits in Europe than EBs like Lazard/Evercore/Rothschild?
What other options do you have? It's a solid bank, generalist sector, assume good conversion rate. You will have inbounds for all funds except maybe 1-2. Unless you have offers at a top BB or a PE fund why would you not go to BofA?
alternative could be an off-cycle at H.I.G. Capital for example
Bro I have an off cycle offer at a Tier 1 MFPE. I considered reneging for Bofa OC and would be a valid option. I was close to 50/50 on this, and I think in hindsight shoulve went for it.
HIG is much worse and would definitely go for Bofa in this case
They likely won't convert so unless you have a FT offer somewhere, I would go to BofA
