Bonus Shafting Dinner

I had dinner with a couple bankers, say 25, in NYC. It was fabulous. They talked about their families, their children, and reminisced about the good old days: which included initiations, risque behaviors, and missed finals. The drinks were pouring and the women were nowhere to be seen. I felt like a boss (I'm a CF intern btw). After about an hour and three + drinks per banker someone (MS VP) says, "You know what I don't ****ing understand, is why my bonus is so low." JPM VP pitches in "Me neither swanson." So, the BoA associate tells us he called a headhunter, and since they are friends, the headhunter tells the associate that the numbers are similar on the street. There was a VP who confirmed what the associate said. Here, heres all around.

Final comment, there were two directors at the dinner, but they kept a low profile (just an observation).

Yes you got shafted, yes it sucks, and no father can't get you in where he works. Times have changed, and the incentives to jump ship just got a lot smaller.

Thoughts...observations....headhunter calls??
