Books on oil and gas investment banking

Hi all, are there any great books for oil & gas investment banking or corporate finance? I am starting an internship at a BB this summer and wanted to prepare for the role. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If you are interested in O&G in general, a few good books from the "classics" list are as follows.

  • The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money & Power Daniel Yergin (this should be your starting point)

  • Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy Matthew R. Simmons (Simmons founded one of the independent ibanks in Houston and this book has a field by field evaluation of Saudi resources, even if you are not going to work in the middle east, it is a good way to get acquainted with all of the field assessment methods you might not know about - this book is varsity level)

  • The Big Rich: The Rise and Fall of the Greatest Texas Oil Fortunes Bryan Burrough (a light fun read on they characters that created the energy business as we now know it)

  • Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling and Production Norman J. Hyne (a good desk reference, don't expect to know everything, but know where to look up most answers tends to be a winning strategy)

  • The Oil and the Glory: The Pursuit of Empire and Fortune on the Caspian Sea Steve LeVine (the current wild west of the energy business)
