Career Resources
Probably not very likely but stranger things have happened, and you have nothing to lose by doing some networking and having a go at it. The worst case scenario is you get some experience with building a network and possibly interviewing.
you'll never know until you try. Every bank and every Managing Director is different. Some may think it is unusual and some may actually like the idea. Send cold emails and make a few calls and see where that gets you.
Even if it's just secretarial work, being around the bankers all day will allow you to pick up on lingo and industry words. And it also gives you the ability to ask questions (in a non-annoying way of course...). Go for it.
Thanks, very helpful. do you think it would be better to ask for a summer internship or an internship during school? which would mean much shorter hours
Do a summer internship. Your freshmen year of college is your easiest year and you should capitalize on getting good grades, having fun/meeting new people/going out, and getting involved on campus. Make sure you get to know your career center and become close with your professors.
