Boutique Internship Question
How valuable is an internship experience at a boutique investment bank that specializes in private placements of debt and equity. I would have a lot of experience with closing deals, and the partners were former directors at BBs.
It can be very valuable if you're able to get deal experience, good references and contacts. You'll have to make sure you're proactive in getting work, meets and recognition as you won't be able to rely on the brand name to sit on your CV.
Also, since this'll be my first experience in finance, will the skills that I learn in private placements be similar to the skills needed in BB IBD? (don't private placements have very little modeling work?)
