Boutique Lateral to BB or Lower MM PE
I am a second year analyst at a regional m&a boutique. I have been doing some networking and have managed to get interviews for both a BB analyst position and a lower MM (~350AUM, first fund) pre-mba associate role. Hypothetically speaking, if both offers were on the table, and business school was in the future, which move would be better for career advancement if PE was the desired post-mba route?
MM PE would be a better route - having some PE experience before B-school will be a big plus going into recruiting IMO
I feel at the end of the day, if you want to go to the buyside, wouldn't hurt to have some experience upfront as well as diversify your profile
Going to a BB would be quite counter intuitive from a admissions standpoint as well as a post-MBA recruitment PoV
