Brown Gibbons Lang (BGL) updated repuation/culture/comp
Couldn’t find any up-to-date information and was wondering if anyone could provide any insights on comp, reputation in the MM vs. some other firms like Blair, Baird, etc., exit opps, etc.

Heard it's really sweaty and LMM. Definitely not on same level as Blair and Baird.
Definitely not on par with Blair and Baird.
do you know anything about comp? asking specifically about the Chicago office
Comp is below street
Very sweaty
Below average comp, long hours, mediocre reputation (decent in a few verticals - e.g. industrial services). I'm at a MM and have never pitched against them.
Known for poor culture and high turnover (do some LinkedIn searches). Best idea would be to take it for a year, hope you can close a few deals and then lateral to a MM.
Pretty sure they cancelled their summer internship, not a good sign.
BGL shortened the internship program due to COVID-19. The internship program is from July 7 - July 31, 2020 and it is in-person. We have 13 Investment Banking interns this summer.
The people that I have spoken with there do not seem to like it all and portrayed an attitude of "try to get an offer elsewhere". They have constant postings for positions on LinkedIN. It's a good place to get some experience, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that people are trying to lateral over to MM immediately. Heard the Chicago office has better culture than Cleveland.
Avoid like the Corona. They do not care about you at all- one of the few banks that laidoff first-year analysts due to the virus. Now three months later, things have picked back up and are hiring again? You lose more of your lifespan working here than you could ever make up for

That ain’t true tho. As good as any MM? Cmon dude
Know someone who left within last two years from Chicago office. Hated their life and took a paycut to leave
Can confirm the hours / culture arent near as bad this forum makes them out to be.
Interned there this summer and was a great experience. Analysts would leave most nights around 7:30-8:30 to WFH.
With all due respect that's common at a ton of places. The question is how late are they working from home?
Had a friend who interned at Keybanc in Cleveland and told me that BGL was nowhere to be found in pitches and that comp was below average
Sauna club. Expect to be grinded to a pulp with very sweaty hours on useless pitches
Lost some of their best MDs (services) to Solomon Partners recently.
