Calculating interest exp. from opening balance to avoid circular reference?

Hi,

My model is quite unstable/slow when circs and iterative calculations are on. I wanted to add a switch that, when set to 0, would calculate interest expense from the opening balance. I was told this would solve the circularity issue?

However, right now I have IF(circ=1, average(x:y)interest%,xinterest) in every interest calculation in my debt schedule. But when I try to set my switch to 0, the circular reference still exists.

Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this?
