Can an MD help me get off the waitlist?

Recruiting for 2023 SA at BB. I had a SD this week and haven't heard back while others have so I am assuming I'm on hold/waitlisted. I am close with one MD there. Can he advocate for me getting off the waitlist? How should I proceed? If not what should I do? Maybe I am grasping at straws but this is my 2nd Superday where I haven't heard back and I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong. Everyone I have networked and mocked with have said my story and technicals are great. Is it really just a numbers game or am I missing some edge to my interview game. Thanks.

Not too likely and either way it's a total overreach for you to ask for him to do that. Any advocation you have gets you to the superday, you have to impress interviewers there to get an offer. Also, most BBs will literally never respond to you if you're rejected so you very well never hear back, or get a rejection in like a year when they clean out the applications.

0/2 isn't too bad at superdays, I'd worry at 0/4 or 0/5 but just gotta keep going

No. I followed up with an MD I'd networked with after my SD last year since I hadn't heard back in a week and they actually responded to me saying that it was super competitive blah blah. That's when I knew I didn't get it. Next day I got a rejection email.

If your interviewers didn't like you enough compared to other candidates, then it's game over. The only thing that would save you is if you have family / family friends in senior roles in the firm to really pull for you. But a random MD won't put their head on the line for a kid they had 2 maybe 3 calls with.
