Can anyone confirm Barclays pay?
Saw this in the FT pay thread:
"Analyst 1
Bank: Barclays
Group: Coverage (Tech/HC/Industrials)
Ranking: Mid
Bonus: ~$45k
Base Salary: $110k
Adjusted Salary: $103k (raised from $100k to $110k in late Feb)
Total Comp: ~$148k
Range was around ~$35k-$55k for An1, median of ~$45k
Very disappointed"
Confirmed this is BB bonus pay before Covid. Nobody wanted to believe it and thought comp was permanently raised regardless of any bad years for deal flow.
You could say they had high hopes

This is in line with historical street all in pay. Additional base pay was deducted from bonus
Why did they do that? Is that typical for other banks to deduct increase from bonus?
all-in not much difference yes, but bonuses down 20-40k before covid. at least at Barclays
It was higher than this in the couple years pre-COVID. I recall my BB paying 50k-80k for A1s. That being said, base was $85k then, so total comp hasn't really changed. I expect Analyst bonuses to be lower ($10k or so) on that alone.
This is a shambles. Given where rents are at the moment analysts will need to start queuing for food stamps to survive.

Yes. Can confirm the range in coverage groups to be ~$35k-$55k. Absolute joke.
Management highlights the $110k raise but the avg over the year was $103k, so TC was ~$150k for most analysts and ~$140k on the low end. Which is insane when you have EB/MM analysts pulling $80k, $100k, $120k bonuses for $180k-$200k TC.
Damn, that really sucks. 140k is atrocious. So is there really even a point of salary raises if they're just gonna lower the bonus?
Were fees unusually low this year?
How were Barclays product groups bonuses?

Are EB’s / MM still pulling those numbers though? I guess we’ll have to see…
