Can you join as a corporate banking associate with just CFA charter?
I saw a corporate banking posting from CIBC (Canda) that was a hybrid analyst/associate post, and said under associate: "masters or CFA charter preferred". This is probably a stretch but does that mean someone with no corporate banking experience* could enter as an associate without an MBA?
*No experience in corporate banking or any of its near-analogues like DCM but 2-3 years experience in capital markets as it pertains to debt (+ accounting degree, which I hear helps.)
where is this posting? I don't see it on the jobs site or linkedin.
You should take the requirements with a grain of salt, you probably don't need a CFA or MBA.
Not sure why they're asking for those qualifications. All you need for corporate banking is the bank's in-house 4-week credit training/orientation lol.
