Can you still be successful in finance with anxiety issues ?

I have higher anxiety levels than the average person. Like shaking during action movies and breaking down during emergencies or dangerous situations. This in turn has led to frequent heart palpitations and seizing up during high stress periods at work …. Can one still have a successful career in this area ? I feel like I’m  my career goals to my health

Yes 100%. I was in a similar boat where I started off super anxious/nervous my first year. Could not talk to seniors without sounding unconfident and would freeze up when given high-priority work. As you navigate through your first year and are given more responsibilities, you'll freeze up less and become more confident. Nothing is impossible just continue to put your best foot forward and you'll be fine.

If you can manage your health problems and you can calm yourself down in stressful situations - maybe.

But finance (or any senior management role) is a stressful place. People are under a lot of pressure. It's not a great place if you have anxiety or can't stay cool at all times.

so, with therapy and medical help you  might be able to pull this off. But maybe it's not a bad idea to also look for a different career with a slower pace.
