Can you Work 80+ Hours and have a Cat?
Anyone here work banking hours and have pets e.g. a cat? Serious question (good for stress and blood pressure) but wondering if it’s ethical or good for the animal etc

Honestly, the cat doesn't deserve to be sitting in an apartment alone for his whole life with nobody playing with him :(
I wouldn't do it. Cats need company too, despite being more solitary animals than, say, dogs. It's just cruel for the animal.
Solution: get 2 cats?
Yeah makes sense. Maybe requires a cat sitter
Don't do it. Not fair to the animal at all IMO unless you have family that would be at home.
Considering animals are destroyed every day for not having an owner ... if I was the cat I would prefer to mostly be alone vs. dead.
You should absolutely do it. Definitely helps take the stress and anxiety off big time. Cats entertain themselves and are pretty solitary. By adopting a cat from the shelter you are saving it’s life and making room for another cat.
Get the cat a cat tree and stick it by a window as well as some toys it can play with. When you get home at night it will probably jump on your bed.
Fish are pretty low-maintenance
Get the cat a fish to watch and the cat will not care if you quit breathing. It’ll be entertained as fuck.
do you have roomates? also, If you have roomates with softer hours and you plan to live with them during your analyst years I'd say go for it, especially if its a shelter cat.
Side note: Its always better to have two from the same litter. the little homies get lonely too
....
Cats are great. They meow and poop in sand
To be honest, as much as I love animals, I've been holding off getting a pet just because of the long hours. I'd suggest you do the same. While cats usually seem to survive long hours alone better than dogs, they still deserve a level of affection we just can't give due to our jobs.
