Canada -> US - IB or S&T

I go to a Canadian target (Ivey/Queens) and my goal is to make it to the US. I know with USMCA being due for review in July that the TN may be re-worked. However, I still really want to try to land a role in the US. I’m incredibly interested in markets as my dad got me into investing, FX, and a few other things when I was younger.

Keeping up with the markets and macro events is something I enjoy, so I am leaning towards S&T because it’s a role I can be immersed in the markets. However, long-term I want to work in the space industry in a corp dev or venture role (or maybe IR, I heard S&T can exit to that?).

I know that S&T is not a great route to get to the first two exits, but joining an Aerospace and Defense coverage group would be. I’m just as interested in the work, it just hits a different spot - industry I’m passionate about versus markets which I’m interested in.

I’m wondering how the landscape is for a Canadian trying to go to the States for S&T vs A&D banking? Would it be possible to start in S&T at a BB and lateral to their A&D group with enough demonstrated interest and relationship building?

I’d really appreciate any insights or advice. Thanks in advance
