Canadian Student Interested in London IB

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if anyone had insights regarding how to approach IB SA as well as PE SA recruiting for London as a Canadian student, for context I got to a Canadian target and have good experience (big 5 IB and PE), I’ve read that it’s very different than recruiting in Canada and the US and things like networking aren’t as a big of a thing so what does it look like and what can I do for someone targeting BBs and EBs

Thanks!

London is a fun idea, but it's just not realistic as a Canadian unless you:

A) grew up in the UK/Europe, went to school there, and ideally have connections back home or

B) meet their diversity requirements (woman, black/arab).

Brits can say whatever they want but the vast majority of Canadians that place in London satisfy one of these two boxes, ideally both.

Then I would definitely go for it. Summer 2027 starts late-summer, often in August. Best to keep track of timelines here. Be sure to apply within 24 hours and complete the many assessments ASAP. Expect interviews to be about the same as Canada, if anything a little less technical.

I went to a Canadian Semi-Target, and interviewed for the following firms:

1. Blackstone Private Equity London - Networked for Interview
2. PJT M&A / Rx - London - Applied on Portal
2. Rothschild Healthcare London - Networked for Interview

Bonus: Houlihan Lokey Restructuring Dubai - Networked

Not diversity, not straight white male, and zero connections to europe. It is for sure possible.

Networking isn't a thing in London, you just spam applications and cross your fingers. There's also no single platform like Handshake, you need to use some combination of Trackr + LinkedIn + word of mouth
