Can't ever be satisfied

my dear monkeys.  After finally breaking into M&A (almost a 3 year process), I'm still not satisfied. I see that people in my position are making north of 150 base salary (associate), I'm at a 20% discount.. I'm currently in the bottom  of Wall street bank tiers (virtually no deal flow, very small team). Would like to start planning  moving to a better bank (I think private equity is less likely). What do you think? Where would you start? Head hunters or networking? Is there a "too old" age I need to consider?
