Cantor Fitzgerald IB Group
What are peoples thoughts on Cantor Fitzgerald? Really haven’t heard anything about them before but interested if it would be a good lateral for me out of TAS? Thinking I could maybe get into a better bank, but not many people are hiring right now so do I take this and then try to lateral in a year or when the market opens up?
Additionally this would be my 3rd job after graduating in 2020. Went from audit —> TAS —> trying for IB
Based on the most helpful WSO content, making a move from TAS to Investment Banking (IB) can be a viable path. However, it's important to consider a few factors before making a decision.
Firstly, the current state of the lateral hiring market seems to be challenging due to headcount reductions and fewer roles available. This could potentially make moving into a tier 1 city more difficult.
Secondly, it's crucial to consider the reputation and opportunities at Cantor Fitzgerald. While I don't have specific information on Cantor Fitzgerald from the WSO Dataset, it's generally advisable to research the firm's culture, deal flow, and exit opportunities.
Lastly, it's worth noting that frequent job changes can sometimes be viewed negatively. However, if each move represents a clear step forward in your career progression and gets you closer to your ultimate goal, it can be justified.
Remember, it's not just about getting into IB, but also about what you want to do long-term. If Cantor Fitzgerald aligns with your long-term goals, it could be a good move. If not, it might be worth waiting for a better opportunity.
As always, it's a good idea to reach out to people in your network who might have insights about Cantor Fitzgerald or the current state of the IB lateral hiring market. They could provide valuable advice tailored to your specific situation.
