CanVPs/ MDs from S&T get me IB interviews?
Hi first post- so hello.
I am rising sophomore from a non target but managed to get in contact with multiple alumni from my school who work in finance. I emailed them and met most of them in the city this summer as most have been really supportive and urged me to keep in touch.
Most of the VP/MDs I met from my school who work in the bulge bracket work in sales and trading. However I am more interested in research or IB- can they still get me an interview for summer IB positions or do I have to network directly with IB bankers to get to the interview stage for a summer analyst gig.
I am looking for a summer analyst role two years from now and started networking.
They probably know someone who works in IB. Since you are so far off, set up a call, ask them about their job and then ask if they might know someone in the IB division you can speak to in order to learn more about that business.
S&T guys likely know the research folks very well since a lot of their investment ideas come from them.
Thank you for the response!
I met most of them face to face already this summer. I said I would update them in the winter and I guess that would be a good time to set up calls and ask around?
Depending on the bank, some S&T staff may know Research and Capital Markets bankers staff very well, could network with them and then try to be put in touch with coverage group / other product group staff.
yes
Of course. Without a doubt.
Just another clarification question- for bulge brackets, how would I approach them about asking for ib interviews, if they work in sales and trading?
