CapitalIQ or other, need access to data. help
Hey everyone,
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. This forum is great.
I have a private equity analyst interview coming up. Based on what I have read from glassdoor, wso, etc., they like to ask pitch me an investment that the company would be interested in. based on what people have said, I need to include not only the qualitative stuff (management, competitive position, market share, etc.) which I can find in articles and online, but the quantitative stuff as well (ebidta, revenue, etc.). I have no idea on where I can even find that. I do not come from an investment banking background or direct finance.
I have heard programs like CapitalIQ or Bloomberg may help in acquiring data like that but every program I have come across requires a subscription. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This job is essentially my one hope into PE based on my non target background so I have been preparing immensely reviewing financial concepts, LBO models, etc., but not sure how to tackle this pitch me an investment part.
Thanks in advance!
I would suggest reaching out to your school’s library/equivalent that handles online resources.
For historical financial data refer to company filings (10K & 10Q). Also read through the MD&A which provides a concise overview of the company’s performance.
Most schools have some type of Thomson One subscription which you can use to pull equity research reports that include forward estimates and valuation summaries.
Company filings/seeking alpha/thomson one/google is all you need. Good luck with your interview.
